Company Profile
'Pop' Browns was started by Cyndy and Kris Brown in 1994 as a new approach to marketing Street Rod Parts. Having worked in the industry since the late sixties, Kris felt that there was scope for a company providing low cost specialist parts for people building rods. By purchasing in quantity, or commissioning specialist parts, production items not easily sourced can be brought to the market place.

Apart from the wide range of parts that we stock for all Street Rods, Custom Cars & Low Riders, we specialize in standard & special parts for Anglias, Populars, Prefects and the Model T body, which is perfect for Lakesters, Pickups and Track T's and provides an economical alternative to our very popular Roadster body. An even larger range of chassis is available from basic rails to reproduction versions with all bracketry & rolling chassis.

Yes, this IS Kris!

For Sale: Ford Escort Mark 4 XR 3i

Kris' carI have owned this car since 2001. It was first registered in 1990. I had the black mohair hood fitted soon after buying it. The power hood is, I think, one of the best features of the car. An RS body kit is fitted, I believe by the factory, and the paint is Peacock blue. A Thatcham alarm is installed and a full record of parts fitted & services carried out since I bought the car will come with it.

I am asking £750.00. Kris

Metalling Workshops by Ron Covell
at F.H. Ellis Coachworks Odiham, Hants.  August 1 & 2, 2009

Ron Covell, one of the most highly-regarded metalworkers in the US, is returning to the UK with his popular workshop series!
Ron Covell
Advanced Steel Workshop, Saturday, August 1

The project for this workshop is creating a ‘34 Ford rear wing from scratch. The first step is making patterns, then the metal parts are trimmed to size. Rough shaping will be done with a mallet and sandbag, and smoothing will be demonstrated with both a slap hammer and the English Wheel. Shrinking and stretching machines will be used as required. The radiused edges will be refined with shaped dies before the panels are welded together, and the last step is creating the wired edge with hand tools. The finishing touch is forming a bead on the fender edge with a rotary machine.

Advanced Aluminum Workshop Sunday, August 2

Ron will create one side of a midget racing car tail section from aluminum sheet. Annealing, shrinking, stretching, doming, hand planishing, English wheeling, and metal finishing will be demonstrated in detail. Both TIG and oxy-acetylene welding will be used in this project, which encompasses most of the key aspects of metalshaping, involving low-crown, high-crown, and reverse-curved panels.
The cost is £85 per day, with lunch and handouts included. The workshops are given as a lecture-demonstration, and although they are not hands-on, you can expect a lively presentation with many unexpected questions, and answers that are often surprising! Workshops are filled on a first come, first served basis, so register early, since the workshops will fill quickly! For more information, or to register, call ‘Pop’ Brown’s at 08456 588191.
