No. 5 - "Geordie Anglia"
Andrew Waller |
This is one Anglia
that gets the wheels driven off it, often with a caravan on the back.
Still,
if you live north of Watford you get used to travelling. Andrew Waller
built this car a while ago and being based in Stanley, County Durham
knows all about long distance Street Rodding.

The engine is a 3.5
litre V8 Rover fitted with a down draught Webber, electronic ignition,
our
block hugger headers and a recored standard radiator. A 5-speed
SDI gearbox is fitted to a custom made prop-shaft, which is connected
to a narrowed Chevey 10 bolt axle using 4.11:1 gears. The rear
suspension is one of our 4-bar/Panhard rod set ups using Avo coil over
dampers. The front end is much modified Vauxhall HA, using Magnam 2.3
discs and Avo
coil overs. Interior is described as "Geordie Red" vynal with
Cobra bucket seats, a six point roll cage and Prefect dashboard.
If you get the chance, give Andrew's Anglia a look over: he's at most
of the main events, just look for the green one with "Teddy Bear"
indicators on the roof.

The Anglia has been
a street rod for many years beginning life with a 1600c.c. Ford
cross-flow motor back in the early 1980’s when it was used as
daily
transport. Credit for the way it is now goes to Rick Hooper – a
man of many talents.
I purchased the car in 2003 after selling my old Ford Popular - Miss
D’meanour,
that was a great car but this one drives better and my wife’s not
scared
to death by it! |
